Sugar Decorating Class - February 2014

How to Decorate Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing Class in Frederick, MD
February, 2014

The class was held just before Valentine's Day.

These were the sample cookies that I made......

Notice how most of the shapes were decorated in two different ways?  That was the point of this class.  It was super fun and a great group!

That's me chatting about cookie decorating to the table full of students......

The students mixing up royal icing......

Getting that consistency juuuuuust right.......

My star pupil (who has attended every single one of my classes!) demonstrating how to make icing bullets......

The whole class after coloring the icing.....

Doesn't the table look so pretty  - all set up for the decorating?......

Here they are getting to work.  They did a great job.....

My next cookie decorating class isn't schedule yet, but I'm thinking it will be April, 214.

Chevron and Number Cookies

Sugar Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing - Chevron Patterns, Letters, and Numbers

Little Zoe turned two.  Bright, happy, fun colors for a two year old!

This was my first time decorating a chevron pattern.  I was a little nervous about cratering.  There was some cratering, but it wasn't too bad.  I think it would have been much worse had it been summer time.

Polka dots.....My favorite......

These cookies and more are available for purchase on my website.

Monogram Cookies

Monogram Sugar Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing

Little Savannah turned one.  She must have had quite a party!

These just may be one of my favorite designs.

I love the colors, the polka dots, the little roses and the shape of the letters!  It all came together well.

These cookies are not only nice for birthdays,  I think they would be perfect for a wedding - with the monogram of the new couple's last name.

They're available for purchase on my website.

Cheeseburger Cookies

Sugar Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing - Cheeseburgers

These were really fun to decorate and fun to look at!

There were rather time consuming to make.  Altogether there are seven layers there to pipe.

Burgers with lettuce, tomato (can you tell that it's supposed to be two slices of tomatoes?), and cheese.  Buns complete with a sprinkling of sesame seed icing.

These were made for a Jimmy Buffett themed baby shower.  Now *that's* fun!

These cookies are available for purchase on my website.

Princesses and Garbage Trucks?  Yep.  These cookies were made for a brother and sister, celebrating their birthdays together.

She loves princesses and turned four.  Thanks to Sugarbelle for the princess inspiration.

Flower Cookies

Sugar Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing - Flowers

Every week I provide sugar cookies to the bakery in town.  It's their kitchen that I use.  What I love about providing cookies is that I get to choose the designs.

With each order, I always make a few extra cookies just in case I make a mistake, break the cookie, or any number of other calamities - one of which happens often.

Sometimes I'll decorate those extra cookies the same as the order.

Other times I'll play around and do something just for fun.  Like with these.........

Some simple wet-on-wet flowers.  Why not, right?
