Tutorial - How to Package Sugar Cookies for Shipping

How to Bag Sugar Cookies for Shipping

All of my cookies from orders are either bagged (for shipping or local pick up) or placed on a platter (for pick up).

All of my bagged cookies are heat-sealed

I use a 12" Impulse Heat Sealer with cutter.

Would you like to learn how I bag my cookies for shipping?

I NEVER tie the ribbon prior to shipping!

I'm now offering Online Live Video Classes!  I'll explain exactly how I bag my cookies for shipping - and tell you  why I don't tie the bags.  (Not tying bags was a huge game changer for me!)
Check it out my online class and join me!

  2. I am curious to find out if you know a rough idea of how much it cost to mail the cookies. I know it depends on weight, type of shipping, and where they are going. I am looking at mailing about 250 cookies from the DC area to Long Island NY. Please let me know (or at least an idea of what the weight of the shipment may be). Thank you!

    1. Hi Casey. I keep a record of how much each of my shipments weigh. For example, today I shipped 40 race cars. The weight was 3 lbs, 13 oz. I add that to an excel spread sheet. Then when I'm needing to calculate shipping, I look through my list for something comparable that I've shipped before to get an idea on weight. Then plug that weight into the usps website with the zip code my order will be shipped to.

I can't really guess the weight without knowing the size/shape of those 250 cookies.

When shipping large orders, I fit two 10"x10"x5" bakery boxes into a single 12x12 shipping box. I've been able to fit up to 150 cookies in those two bakery boxes with weights ranging from 9 lbs to 12 lbs for the whole shipping box.

Hope that helps at least a little. :)
