In December 2011, my husband asked me to make sugar cookies for Christmas. I had made decorated sugar cookies most years for Christmas. That year though, I decided to get serious and try to make them better than ever. I started googling, reading tutorials and watching videos.
This was the result that Christmas. . .
I had so much fun decorating them! I was hooked. The icing was lumpy. My red was actually pink. The cookies spread in the oven. I was proud of them but I wanted to do better.
I started this blog shortly after to document my future cookie endeavors. I wanted to record what I was doing right, what I was doing wrong, and what I wanted to do the next time. I saw this blog as a valuable learning tool for me. I was hoping that just maybe other beginning cookie decorators would learn something too.
In June 2014, I moved into a commercial kitchen to start selling my cookies full time. This blog changed from the learning tool for me that it once was. With cookie orders keeping me so busy, the blog became simply a place to post the cookies I had been working on.
In June 2015 - one year after I began cookieing full time, I decided to *try* to put more effort into my blog. I'd like for it to become a learning tool again - for other cookie decorators this time. I'd like to share what I've learned about the business of cookie decorating, working in a commercial kitchen, and decorating cookies full time. My goal for this blog now is to start sharing what I've learned so that I can help others with the business side of it! You can read more about my goals for my second year at the bakery here.
Thanks for visiting!
